CHARM Community Partners

What is a CHARM Community Partner? A CHARM Community Partner is a community organization involved with services and activities related to: HIV and mental health, sexual health, advocacy, and/or community support services. The goal of these partnerships is to connect researchers and the community to work together towards ending the HIV epidemic in South Florida and beyond.

CHARM highly values MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. This means actively working with community partners to support what the community cares about, like coming up with research ideas and projects that are responsive to community needs.

As a CHARM Community Partner, your group gets:

  • listed on CHARM’s Website
  • access to networking and training opportunities and events
  • opportunities to be community partners on CHARM-related research projects
  • to apply for a CHARM Community Pilot Award (a research project for organizations to conduct their own research), or the Equitable Implementation Science Microgrant (a planning grant meant for building a relationship between an organization that delivers HIV and/or Mental Health services, and a CHARM researcher)
  • opportunities to be featured on our popular “CHARMing Conversations” panels, which bring together people with lived experience and other experts to discuss topics that are chosen by our Community Advisory Board
  • promotion on CHARM’s social media for your upcoming events and activities

How to become a CHARM Community Partner – To be an official CHARM Community Partner, you must complete the “Community Agency Survey.” This is a short survey that asks about what your organization does, what needs your organization has, and what activities you may be interested in getting involved with. This short survey must be completed every year to renew your Community Partner status.

Please contact Meadgine Ilmet at mfi13@miami.edu or Ame Leon at axl425@miami.edu if you are unsure if your organization has completed the survey, or if your organization would like to become an official CHARM Community Partner.
